Women Enabled International (WEI) is the leading global organization at the intersection of gender and disability. Since 2012, we have been tackling the barriers to human rights that women, girls, and gender-diverse people with disabilities face. We support and amplify the work and knowledge of local leaders and advocates to design and implement solutions and strengthen the capacity of different stakeholders.

One in five women worldwide has a disability. Critical issues impacting democracy, human rights, and gender equality can only be remedied when women, girls, and gender-diverse people with disabilities are seen as equal partners in identifying solutions. Yet, accessibility barriers, lack of funding, and pervasive stigma prevent us from participating in decision-making spaces.
Centering Our Global Movement
Everything is a gender and disability issue.
This is why WEI’s integrated and holistic strategies center our global movement of women, girls, and gender-diverse people with disabilities. We know progress depends on feminist disabled leaders harnessing our full potential and power as changemakers to shape a world that values our voices and experiences.
To achieve this we are:
Identifying and investing in 100 Feminist Disabled Changemakers to strengthen their work, visibility, and sustainability.
Working hand in hand with these leaders, we aim to advance 100 Advocacy Initiatives at the local, regional, and international levels.
We are co-creating an ethical and participatory method to tell 100 Feminist Disabled Stories. Together, we will rewrite the narrative around gender and disability, one story at a time.
And we are identifying, collaborating with, and strengthening the organizational capacity of 100 Allies for Inclusive Action across sectors—UN Agencies, government, service providers, INGOs, funders, and researchers—who recognize that gender equality depends on disability inclusion and are committed to building a truly intersectional feminist future.
