POSITION SUMMARY

Summer Development Intern

Type of Position: Exempt, Full-time (35 hours per week), 10 weeks between June and August (flexible)

Location: Remote; candidates should be able to overlap business hours (9 am to 5 pm) in the U.S. Eastern Time Zone for a minimum of 4 hours per day

Reports to: Development Officer

Start Date: June 2025

Compensation: $7,000 Stipend

Women Enabled International (WEI) works at the intersection of gender and disability to advance the human rights of women, girls, and gender-diverse people with disabilities. Through collaboration, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives, we amplify their voices and support them in creating systemic change.

 

Internship Overview:

WEI is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Development Intern to join our Development Team. This internship is an excellent opportunity for college students interested in nonprofit administration, fundraising, and donor communications to gain hands-on experience supporting global initiatives.

As a Development Intern, you will assist our fundraising efforts, donor stewardship, and special projects, which sustain and expand WEI’s work worldwide.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Research
    1. Assist in gathering data and trends to inform fundraising strategies and campaigns.
    2. Assist in researching new funding sources.
  2. Campaign Assistance
    1. Collaborate on the planning of WEI’s mid-year fundraising campaign including copywriting and digital distribution.
    2. Assist in the creation of a corporate pitch deck.
    3. Assist in the revision of the donation page on WEI’s website.
  3. Administrative Tasks
    1. Take notes at meetings and manage follow-up action items.
    2. Streamline the database to allow for more effective utilization.

Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate student (junior or senior preferred) or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Communications, or related fields.
  • Strong research, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with donor databases or CRMs (preferred but not required).
  • Interest in disability rights, gender equity, and human rights advocacy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
  • Commitment to upholding WEI’s values of inclusivity and equity.
