Capacity Strengthening Manager at Women Enabled International

Sofía Minieri is the Capacity Strengthening Manager at Women Enabled. Sofía leads the design, development, and implementation of WEI’s innovative and collaborative strategies to strengthen the capacity of and support women, girls, and gender-diverse people with disabilities and other key stakeholders working to advance human rights at the intersection of gender and disability at the national, regional and global levels. She also coordinates WEI’s work on the impact of humanitarian emergencies and situations of risk on the rights of women, girls, and gender-diverse people with disabilities.

Previously, Sofía collaborated with civil society organizations, intergovernmental agencies, and regional human rights bodies in the implementation of strategic actions to address gender-based violence and discrimination and advance sexual and reproductive rights in Argentina and the Americas, from an intersectional perspective. Among other initiatives, as an independent consultant for the Spotlight Initiative in Argentina, she developed guidelines for legal practitioners on gender-based violence against women and girls with disabilities and how to ensure their access to justice. In 2018, she was a fellow and consultant for the Rapporteurship on the Rights of Women and the Special Rapporteurship for Freedom of Expression of the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights, where she monitored State policies on violence and discrimination against women and girls, and co-authored a report on gender-based violence against journalists.

She holds an LL.M degree from Columbia Law School, where she was part of the Human Rights Clinic, a Human Rights Fellow, and a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar. After her graduation, she received the David W. Leebron Human Rights Fellowship to advance sexual and reproductive rights for women with disabilities in Argentina. She also holds a law degree (LL.B.) from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, Argentina.
