Marcela Reyes Ayala

Communication Director at Women Enabled International

Marcela (Marce) Reyes is Director of Communications at Women Enabled International. In this capacity, she leads the planning and delivery of strategic communications and public relations initiatives to convey WEI’s mission, activities, and impact to internal and external stakeholders. She works closely with the Executive Director and other senior leadership to design communications strategies that support WEI in its efforts to advance human rights and justice at the intersection of gender and disability.

She is a creative storyteller who specializes in all things content and communications. Her experience spans different industries, including media outlets, innovation start-ups, international cultural projects, local government, non-profits, and higher-education institutions. For over 16 years she has helped organizations think strategically about their communications and content efforts, while centering justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.

Marcela’s work is driven by the deep belief that ideas and words have the power to transform realities, and they represent infinite possibilities when they become beautiful, simple and well-written content.

Mexican and norestense (northeasterner), she holds a B.A. in Journalism and Media Studies, and a Masters in Humanistic Studies, with a minor in Literature and Discourse, from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education. Later in life she obtained an ADHD diagnosis and a self-diagnosis of autism.

More recently, she successfully completed the Executive Program for Emerging Leaders by the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
