Alana Carvalho
Senior Program Officer, Advocacy and Accountability at Women Enabled International
Alana’s work focuses on advocacy with U.N. human rights treaty bodies and agencies, research on the rights at the intersection of disability and gender, and movement building.
Prior to joining WEI, she worked at non-profit organizations, the Judiciary and at universities in Spain and Brazil. Her previous work was mainly related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender-based violence, legal capacity, inclusive education, access to justice, the U.N. Human Rights system, and the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities.
Originally from Brazil, Alana graduated from the University of Brasilia Law School (Brazil) and holds a master’s degree in Human Rights from the University Carlos III (Spain), during which she specialized in disability and women’s rights.
