Valentina Vargas

Operations Associate at Women Enabled International

Valentina is the Operations Associate, supporting the organization’s daily functions and working closely with the Director of People & Culture and Operations. Her role focuses on maintaining the operational efficiency needed to advance WEI’s mission.

Before joining WEI, Valentina co-founded and served as General Coordinator of Colectiva Mujeres con Capacidad de Soñar a Colores in rural Guatemala. There, she led strategic planning, fundraising, and operational management, focusing on gender and disability rights. Her work has included collaborating with different organizations, ranging from community-based feminist collectives to the UN Systems in Guatemala.

Valentina holds an MA in Social Analysis of Disability from Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala and a BA in Human Geography from the University of British Columbia. She is fluent in Spanish, English, and Guatemalan Sign Language.

Valentina is passionate about the politics of personal identity, viewing the body and personal and family spaces as inherently political. Her work is deeply informed by these beliefs, particularly in the context of sexual orientation, gender, disability rights, and local politics.
