My Life My Choice is a self-advocacy organisation. Our vision is a world where people with learning disabilities are treated without prejudice, and are able to have choice and control over their own lives.
Our mission is:
- To make sure that there is independent support for people with learning disabilities in Oxfordshire to have their say, claim their rights and to take control of their own lives.
- To make sure that the views of people with learning disabilities are taken seriously by both professionals in the services they use and the wider public.
- To “Power Up” their lives so they can make a positive contribution to society.
WEI’s Work With My Life, My Choice
MLMC has been working alongside WEI, UNFPA, UN Women, and other civil society partners to inform the response to the COVID-19 crisis, ensuring that the rights and wellbeing of women, girls, and gender non-conforming persons with disabilities are a priority in response and recovery efforts worldwide.
MLMC has made key contributions to this project, including by partnering to conduct consultations to better understand the lived experiences of women with learning disabilities in the U.K. during the crisis, informing the public about these issues through global events, and contributing to submissions to U.N. human rights experts and materials to inform the global response.
We are proud of the work we have done so far with MLMC and hope we continue to support each other and our community into the future.
