  • August 6, 2014 The Beijing+20 review must include women and girls with disabilities! We call on governments and UN Women to include women and girls with disabilities in the critical forthcoming Beijing+20 Review at CSW59 in 2015. To this end, Women Enabled International participated in the United States Government's consultations with civil society as they prepare their CSW+20 Report and we raised specific questions that they must address in the report. We encourage all to engage with their governments as this process moves forward.

update to a post dated May 28, 2014

  • March 15, 2013 On the last day of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, Michele Bachelet announced that she has resigned as Executive Director of UN Women. Women Enabled thanks her for her service and passion in advancing women's rights and calls on the new Executive Director of UN Women to even more vigorously include women and girls with disabilities in the work of UN Women. Some important steps could include: appointing women with disabilities to leadership positions within UN Women; including women with disabilities and our issues in the next CSW58 preparatory meetings; and including organizations of women and girls with disabilities in UN Women funding programs. We thank Madam Bachelet for beginning the work to include us and encourage even greater progress. Read the article at UN.org
